Rabbit Ears: Experimental Film

Rabbit-Ears-Frame-1

Imagine an insane alien astronaut who tunes into earth’s radiating television signals originating in the analog days of the twentieth century. The alien receives our entire TV culture in seconds, processing the sounds and images instantly, watching them all simultaneously… and the alien is crazy enough to find a message within.

This is an experimental film that is for all intents and purposes a continuation of my previous film, “The Magical Dead Sunstroke Valley,” which has been screening for the past year at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA).

HUF Magazine Prints My Photograph of Fashion Photographer David Wagner

HUF-Magazine-Is39-Content

Today, my photograph of fashion photographer David Wagner appeared in both print and digital versions of the latest issue of HUF Magazine.

I’ve never had a photograph go into a fashion magazine before! This magazine happens to be all about photography. It’s actually a pretty damn great magazine. I’ll have to try more of this!

Here is the photograph as printed by HUF.

Headshots in the Street #27

HeadshotOnTheStreet27-1-5-2014This is clothing designer Teddy Lawson of SDRR Clothing. I thought his outfit was interesting so I actually called out to him from behind to ask if he’d like to pose. He was very kind and even retraced his steps back to the alley so I could shoot him against a colored wall.

Headshots in the Street is a series of unplanned, totally improvised shots of people encountered on the streets of Los Angeles. I treat each one as a mini-session, sometimes lasting no more than thirty seconds. Each photo is given some minimal retouching and color correction before posting. The people are from all walks of life. Some actually turn out to be actors or models. Sometimes we talk a little and I hand out my business card so that the person can check to see if I post their photo.
